Chronological Bible

Read the Bible in a year, in the order that events occurred, with the Prophets, Psalms and Epistles placed in their historical context as far as possible, with my Chronological Bible Reading Plan The whole Bible arranged so that the events are presented in the order that they happened. Divided into event-based sections with brief headings. Averaging 85 verses per day to get through the whole Bible in a year.

Note re the dates given

From Abraham onwards, I originally used the dating system in the Newberry Bible, which seemed to be largely based on Bishop Ussher’s dating. After working through some chronological calculations based on the known date of Solomon’s Temple, I have since worked back using the genealogies and various references to give the dates you will now find.

I make no claim for absolute accuracy, but the dates are given as a study aid. They have also proved to be very useful in preparing Bible Studies (especially in the Old Testament). It is hoped that other readers, will find it so too. There is an index of the daily readings in the order of the books of the Bible at the end of the plan. This enables you to look up any passage and then refer to the place in the reading plan where it occurs, to see it in its historical context.

Job is placed between Genesis and Exodus, as its date is uncertain. It probably dates from the Patriarchal period and its insertion at this point helps to give an idea of elapsed time while the Israelites were in Egypt.

The prophetical and poetic books in the OT, and the Epistles in the NT, are inserted around the time they were written, to give the historical background to them.
